Hidden DIY composting toilet in a camper van – Barbaras custom DIY Throne Toilet

Where are you using your DIY THRONE composting toilet? 

We are using our composting toilet in our DIY camper van. We live in it several days a week.

Why did you choose a DIY THRONE composting toilet? 

I wanted to purchase a urine diverter that was made in the USA. I also liked the directions from THRONE about building the toilet. Their support has been helpful.

Have you had any experiences with composting toilets before building the Throne?

No, we previously used a cassette toilet in our van. It has been easier than expected. We like our THRONE toilet.

How was your experience building your DIY toilet?

We used the template to cut out the hole for the diverter, but we built our toilet into our couch.

What’s your routine for managing your toilet?

I clean it after each trip. We dump our liquids in a toilet or at a dump station. We rarely use it for solids, but when we do, we remove it as soon as possible and put in the trash in a compostable bag designed for this.

What do you like most about your DIY THRONE?

I like the diverter. It’s easy to use. I also like that we were able to “hide” our toilet.
