Off-grid Composting Toilet for Glamping Camp

Nickโ€™s Off-Grid Family Campsite at Red River Gorge: Focusing on sustainability with the DIY THRONE Composting Toilet

Nick has upgraded his family campsite in the renowned climbing haven, Red River Gorge, by installing a DIY THRONE composting toilet.

Why Nick Chose Throne Composting Toiletsยฎ for the Campsite

Nick opted for a composting toilet to blend functionality with aesthetics at his newly finished campsite. The DIY THRONE was particularly appealing for its sleek design and efficient urine diverter, making it perfect for shared use.

Building the DIY THRONE

Nick build the composting toilet using free THRONE plans. Although he initially planned on using a more compact design, the capacity of the DIY Throne, especially for solids, changed his opinion. To improve accessibility, he added a front platform to the toilet.

Upgrades and Daily Management

The DIY THRONE is central to the campโ€™s sustainability efforts. Nick manages it by composting solids onsite for topsoil and diluting liquids in their grey water system. This is in-line with his commitment to offer environmentally responsible camping.

Aesthetic and Functional Success

Nick really likes the DIY THRONE for its neat look that fits in well with Red River Gorgeโ€™s natural scenery. The effective urine diverter simplifies maintenance and improves hygiene, making the daily chores of the camping experience for all families more enjoyable.
